The site I'm referring to is my own. I've been neglecting it as well as my dolls in general and my activity here as well. I'm considering giving myself some kind of assignment, like doing X amount of work a week or month or something like that, but I haven't committed to anything yet. I'm also considering starting up a new contest, I know those aren't really big anymore because the community isn't really big anymore, but I'm willing to give it a try because I have some ideas. I'd like to do something along the lines of mythology, but the details haven't been decided yet. And the last contest I did a few years ago had only 3 (very lovely) entries, which I still felt justified making awards for. Anywho I figured I'd poke around here a bit and get some feedback.

Yeah I popped in a couple times to see what was going on, and I wanted to join but my summer has just been so busy, I've hardly even been home at all, and I haven't been feeling that great.
I wondered if I should narrow the theme down a bit (like say stick to gods and goddesses) because mythology is such a broad topic, but maybe it doesn't matter. I am personally a HUGE fan of Norse, but anything that falls under this category is valid, I'd especially like to see some not as well known figures. Besides I've got a couple ideas for some dolls that would work as entry examples. I mean I can make them without doing a contest, but contests are fun.

I entirely agree contests are fun, I personally would go for a more broader theme since it can make it easier for people to join and get creative? Maybe suggest a couple of not well knows figures so people can search for them if they cant get any ideas?🤔

Woo! A kindred spirit. Who's your favourite figure? I am working my way to getting the contest up and going. Mostly working on some examples, because I'd like to have a few, I shant tell what they are though, they must be a surprise. And I've asked a friend, who is a huge mythology nerd, to help with it. Mostly in the judging and such. She used to doll a little bit but doesn't anymore, although she still does other kinds of art.

ooh i don't know.. i think maybe balder, or hel? idk a lot of them intrigue me. cx and i just.. really like how these are characters people thought about literally thousand years ago and here we are today still thinking and remembering the very same characters? it just really fascinates me for some reason cx (tho i mean, that goes for all old mythologies of course, i just feel more connected to the norse mythology since i come from sweden and grew up learning about the norse gods)

looking forward to see the examples! :eyes:

Both excellent choices. Tyr is my number one, though Loki is a close second. I actually so roleplay as both of them...Not in the same roleplays, just either or. It is fascinating. I'm trying to track down some nice copies of the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda, you'd think you'd be able to find them together but nooooooo. I do have Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman in it is quite entertaining, even if he's added his own flair to the stories. Ooh nice. A good chunk of my ancestry is from Denmark and neighboring countries, so I do feel a sort of connection, but even if I didn't I think I would still find it fascinating.

also excellent choices! oh yeah, i enjoyed gaiman's norse mythology book, i think he did a good job re-telling the stories, and they were written in a really nice and accessible way (i did read it translated tho, so can't talk too much about the language, but still). but yeah! this made me low-key wanna draw some norse myth stuff :eyes: but i should probably wait, so i don't use all my inspiration before/if you make the contest cx (also i have,, other stuff i should probably finish first >.>)
