I know I know dolling is art, I'm not denying that but I'm gonna make things easier for me and just call it dolling and then every other kind of art just art.
How do you feel about dolling vs art in general? One of the things I like about dolling is that because it's on a much smaller scale so it goes quicker and you get results sooner. Lately I've increased dolling at the expense of art. Which is completely intentional (you can't ask me to not do some kind of art). I got to a point where no one seemed interested in any actual art I was doing, I wasn't happy with my style, and I definitely wasn't at the level I wanted to be at. I was basically so unsatisfied with my work that I wanted to quit it all together. Except not because I can't stand not doing art in one form or another. So naturally the solution was to doll more. I still haven't figured out what to do about art, I do work on it but not enough to actually finish anything. One of the things is that since dolling is quicker and in some ways easier, and I'm doing it to compensate for lack of actual finished art pieces I feel like I'm cheating, or that I'm not actually accomplishing anything or that heaven forbid, I'm not even doing art at all. It's not that I intend to quit dolling or let the amount of dolls I put out drop significantly, but if I were to slow down with making them so I'd be doing more art, that would be great. So I dunno, what are your thoughts?
